John and his team did a great job on our project, a restoration of a 18th century listed building that had the special type of painful issues you get with a listed building. What was really great was the clarity of communications from John and all the team were professional. Importantly it was clear exactly what we were paying for to the individual line item and there was never a sense that John was anything other than straightforward. Unfortunately recent experience has told us that is not a given! Lastly John and team worked well and professionally with other contractors and the quality of work was great with no snagging visits needed. Unlike another contractor, when an issue came up with building control when we came to sell, John and team helped us resolve and didn't ghost us like the roofers! Definitely recommend and especially for older and listed buildings.

After paying a deposit and an amount upfront for the cost of the materials, I was very pleased when JH arranged to start the work on the agreed date. On that date, the men arrived and immediately told me that they were only dropping off the materials as they were told by the boss not to start that day. Okay, that was not my understanding, but they did say they would begin at some point in the week. I left to return to work providing them with my front door key. By the time I got home, there was an email in my inbox to say that they are unwilling to do the job citing the presence of other trades people in the house (there was just a lone plumber), the areas being larger than they thought, the second Lockdown changing things (it had not begun yet) and the areas not being prepared (all but one wall is stripped back to bare brick). They said in their email that they had removed all their material apart from the sand left in the driveway in our garden and both men had left the site. They made no reference to our front door key until I emailed to ask where it was left. The most discourteous and unprofessional behaviour! They could have called me to discuss the varied reasons they gave especially since the boss had done a site visit to our property and was fully appraised of the areas we wanted plastered. If they had called, we could have talked about what was needed to get the work progressed. Instead, they walked away and then made us wait without explanation for days before our money was returned and the following morning when they returned my front door key was the only time that I was told that it had been secured in their office overnight. I would not recommend this company, their treatment of customers is appalling.

Through the Listed property owners website I got contact details of JH Building restoration and simply asked a question over an issue we were having with our property. I got back a very quick response with some brilliant advice and support. No charge and John couldn't have been more helpful. JH are very knowledgeable and helpful
